This girl and her sister on my Facebook always make posts expressing their often heavily traditional Christian beliefs. She is entitled to her opinions so I generally just fume or chuckle about them quietly to myself. This is not one of the best ones but it irritates me so I wanted to blog about it. What bothers me about this post is that it supports the misogynistic idea that a woman’s sexuality is defined by her physical interaction(s) with men. This traditional concept of virginity is ridiculous to me. Just because you have had a penis inside you, that somehow transforms you as a person? A woman’s sexuality is not a trophy to be won. Virginity is not a purity that stands to be tarnished or lost. Sex should be celebrated and explored safely and consensually. So, whether a person wants to have pre- or post-marital sex, or any other variation of sex, or no sex at all, it is his/her/skler own damn business.
